2018 Season of Events
We are excited and proud to continue our adventure series for the 2018 season. Due to post regulations regarding outdoor activities in cold temperatures, we take a break from December to February. Below is our Spring Schedule. As we get close to the events, we’ll start publishing information. In the meantime, to keep your orienteer and nav skills sharp, we recommend you check out the events hosted by Orienteer Kansas and Possum Trot Orienteering Club.
March 10th, pre-Spring Break Orienteer. This is one of our most popular events where the winter chill ceases and the mild spring temps appear. We’ll be offering sprint and olympic courses for you to explore.
April 8th, Bingo Orienteer. Yes, this is on a Sunday. With Easter weekend being on 1 April, the post’s PAIR Day and garage sale, and other scheduled events, April’s schedule is always jam-packed. In order to get an event in, we shifted to a Sunday morning. Join us for our Bingo orienteer where we use bingo cards versus race passports to capture markers. Depending on the temperatures, you may break out the canoes for a paddle on Lake Smith.
May 12th, Lewis and Clark Orienteering Challenge and Adventure Race. This is the grand-daddy of all our events, our salute to services adventure race leading up to Armed Forces Day the following week. Plan on a multi-discipline event consisting of trekking, paddling, biking, and a few mystery challenges.
Adventure Series Jersey Award
Since the start of the adventure series, we reward racers with an Adventure Race jersey after participants complete 5 of the FTLV Adventure Series (even if it takes you 10 years!). Heres the link to the 2017 jersey. No worries about keeping track of how many events you completed. Since 2012, we maintain an updated lists of over 1200 racers who attended our events.
Adventure Series Master Athletes Award
In recognition of those athletes that complete 12 or more FTLV adventure series races, we award the adventure series embroidered duffle bag. The 55L Oakley Bag contains 2 outer compartments for shoes and a wet bag. The bag is embroidered with a compass and a personalized name tag. The perfect gear stuffer for an outdoor adventure racer.
